Virtual classes
Introduction
We will be focusing on mixing, applying and finishing. Rolling, brushing and troweling will be the primary focus. Participants will also learn some easy techniques and some time will be spent on how to market and sell liquid metal finishes.
This virtual class will be using Metalier coatings. Since 2005 they have been the leader in liquid metal coatings.
After you register you are responsible for ordering product as well as having some essential materials and tools for class. Once product has shipped there are absolutely no refunds.
Instructions and product list can be downloaded once you register.
If you are mostly interested in spray techniques or if you want to be distinguished as certified, be on the national referral system, then you need to take the 2-day in person class.
Choose your own date for your virtual class. Virtual classes will be a combination of short videos and live sessions.
You can choose any day Monday - Saturday.
Class must be scheduled at least 2 weeks in advance.
Please note that you will only get certification status, certificate, online badge and referrals for live class attendance. You can however earn the certification after we have seen proof from at least two jobs you have done using the products.
What People Are Saying about the Virtual Class
“I was glad to have purchased the sample kit. It gave me ample amounts to keep on working at home after the class rather than waiting to get home and put in an order. I think for a person who is "seasoned" in working with different mediums this was a great option. However, for someone new to working with different mediums, an actual class in person would be best. The con part is that you don't get the interactions with classmates and you miss some thing when you are working and watching a screen. All and all I really had a great time and learning experience and would do other virtual classes!!”

“Having the sample starter kit, the proper tools, and space with good internet was key. I am an experienced class taker, and a lot of them have been through Kathy’s events, so I was pretty well equipped to handle the format. I don’t think this is a good format for newer students of decorative finishing, too many variables.
Pros:
- no travel, so more time & cost efficient.
- if you are an experienced finisher and have your own tools & studio space to work, this works pretty well.
- Can sleep in your own bed.
Cons:
- It’s fun to travel and get away from my family😜
- I missed being in the same room with other students and teacher. We build nice friendships and share tips n’tricks when we are at workshops together. Zoom is better than nothing but not the same.
- It’s harder to see how the colors really look via video.
- if you are missing a tool or snack, there’s no one who can share with you.
- you don’t get to try out the cool tools and extra products that the teacher uses at in person workshops.
- Carving out time “at home” can be tough and distracting.
I would of preferred taking the class in person, but I enjoyed the zoom class, got a lot out of it, and my samples turned out quite nice. I would do it again, but only for certain types of mediums that I am already somewhat familiar🎨🤩
